SAT 10

Hello! As you may have seen on the school calendar, the SAT 10 assessment will be the Wednesday and Thursday after Spring Break.

The purpose of the SAT 10 is more so for educators and administrators to guide curricular decisions, as opposed to determining student grades. This does not mean that the test is unimportant!

The way I have explained standardized tests to second grade students in the past is that it is an opportunity for them to show off! They will be asssessed on reading comprehension, cause and effect, main idea, math operations, geometry and estimation to name a few subject areas. These are all areas that they have been studying and mastering for the past three years (at least!).

These tests will take place in the morning, please make especially sure that your son/daughter is at school on time on these days.

The best advice I can give for success on these tests are a good night's sleep the night before, and a healthy breakfast the morning of!
